Amplitude Ratio: Calculator
Ar = 20 *Log 10 (
Am, Output /

Input)
Answer: Amplitude Ratio, Ar ( in dB) =
Ar, in dB, dB Given
= 20 *Log 10
(

Amplitude measured or output amplitude, Am =
Where do I used this formula ? Below are the common application of this formula
1. Application of formula: Find the output voltage for a system with input voltage ( amplitude ) of 5V and voltage gain of 6 dB. Using the above calculator : Answer the output voltage needed must be 9.976 V or 10 V.
2. Application of formula: Find the output current for a system with input current ( amplitude ) of 5A and current gain of 7 dB. Using the above calculator: Answer the output current needed must be 11.19 A or 11.2 A
Where: Ar = Amplitude ratio is the ratio of output to input amplitude.
Am= Amplitude measured
or output amplitude
Ar = Amplitude at reference value
or input amplitude.
